Cover Story: Stimulus Money Funds Audiology Research Laboratory
A three-year grant from the National Institutes of Health, created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will support projects designed to increase the efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility of hearing tests. Since 2002, the Audiology Research Laboratory in the University of Minnesota's Department of Otolaryngology, has been supported by the NIH Small Business Technology Transfer program, which supports small business development of products that have health benefits. Audiology Incorporated (www.audiologyincorporated.com) was created by laboratory director Robert Margolis to compete for STTR funds and provide a business for commercializing improved hearing-test methods. George Saly, a partner in AI, developed the software systems. Michael Hamacher, who has worked in the Audiology products industry for many years, recently joined the company as a marketing consultant. read more...
