All audiologists should have received an email from MDH in early October if your MN Audiology license renewed in May 2020 or if you were in the process of submitting for initial licensure. The email stated the appropriate next steps to complete if you had submitted your renewal and fees, if you had your application returned or if you never submitted it. If you have not received that email, please follow up with MDH.
We have learned that the fingerprints will begin happening again on 10/21/2020. Please watch for an email coming in the next week with instructions for fingerprinting. We have also learned that the licenses will be renewed regardless of the status of fingerprinting, but it is important that you follow the process once you receive the email to do so.
The goal of MDH is to renew all licenses, and mail them by October 25th, for the May 31, 2020 renewal. MDH will then audit the records and reach out to individuals who may need to submit more information.
Here are instructions on the MDH website: https://www.health.state.mn.us/facilities/providers/slpa/announcements.html#surchargefee
MDH will start processing the criminal background checks later this week, and will send an email the week of October 26 to update licensees on our process.
For those of you that had a 5/31/2020 renewal date, the new renewal date will be 5/31/2022 so as not to confuse the CE cycle.
Josie Helmbrecht and Jennifer Plote Ward are working closely with MDH regarding the exam status. We will continue to communicate with membership the status of the exam as we discover more information.
